Nissan has put prices on the 2027 Rogue Hybrid, and the interesting part is not the number. It is the hardware. This is the first car sold in America with Nissan's e-POWER system, a hybrid that works differently from almost everything else in the class, and the Rogue is a big enough seller to make that a real test rather than an experiment.
Pricing starts at $35,490 before a $1,575 destination charge, which puts the cheapest Rogue Hybrid on the road at $37,065.
How e-POWER Is Different
In a Toyota or Honda hybrid, the petrol engine can drive the wheels directly, with electric assistance blended in. In e-POWER, it never does. The engine is a generator and nothing else.
A 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder runs at whatever speed is most efficient for making electricity. That electricity feeds a small 1.67 kWh lithium-ion battery and two electric motors, and only those motors turn the wheels. You never plug it in.
The engineering appeal is straightforward. An engine freed from driving the wheels can sit in its efficient range instead of being dragged up and down with your right foot. The driving experience is closer to an EV: immediate response, no gearchanges, no hunting for a ratio.
The trade-off is equally real. Converting fuel to electricity to motion adds a conversion step, and at steady highway speed a conventional hybrid that can lock the engine to the wheels is usually more efficient. That shows in the estimated figures, which are roughly 40 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. Most hybrids in this class do better on the highway than in town; this one does the reverse.
Power and Drivetrain
Combined output is 225 horsepower. Nissan uses two motors: a 202 hp unit driving the front wheels with 243 lb-ft, and a 134 hp motor at the rear contributing 144 lb-ft. Because the rear axle has its own motor with no propshaft to the front, all-wheel drive is standard across every trim at launch.
That last point matters for value. Rivals typically charge extra for all-wheel drive, so comparisons against a front-wheel-drive base RAV4 or CR-V hybrid are not like for like.
Trims and Prices
All prices exclude the $1,575 destination charge:
- SV AWD — $35,490
- SV AWD with SV Premium Package — $37,590
- SR AWD — $37,490
- SR AWD with SR Technology Package — $41,490
- Platinum AWD — $43,490
The top Platinum lands at $45,065 on the road, which is serious money for a compact SUV and puts it against well-equipped rivals rather than base ones.
Inside
Platinum gets a 14.3-inch infotainment screen, which is optional on the SR, while other trims run a 12.3-inch display. Google is built into the system with Gemini support, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included on the smaller-screen trims. Nissan's ProPILOT Assist driver aid is offered with automatic lane changes and supervised hands-off driving.

When You Can Buy One
Availability is staggered. Only the SR AWD with the SR Technology Package arrives this autumn, with the rest of the range following in early 2027. If you want the $35,490 SV, you are waiting.
Early Verdict
The Rogue Hybrid is the most interesting compact SUV launch of the year, because it is the first time American buyers get to judge a series hybrid in a mainstream family car. Standard all-wheel drive and 225 hp make the entry price look competitive once you compare it against similarly equipped rivals.
The question is the highway number. Many compact SUV buyers commute, and 36 mpg is good rather than class-leading. Whether the smoother, quieter, more electric feel is worth that depends on the kind of driving you actually do. We will reserve judgment until we have driven it and EPA figures are final.
